As part of the European research project STAGE (From Stage to Data, the Digital Turn of Contemporary Performing Arts Historiography) led by Clarisse Bardiot, this research seminar offers an in-depth introduction to the issues, concepts, methods, and tools for the digital study of texts, images, and cultural data. It aims to address the challenges and opportunities associated with the use of digital data for art studies, particularly in the rapidly growing fields of digital art history and culture analytics, and to demonstrate how digital humanities are opening up new research perspectives in the humanities and social sciences.
The main objectives of the seminar are to understand the fundamental concepts of digital humanities and their application to art studies, particularly in the performing arts, to analyze the scientific and ethical implications of using digital data in research, and to explore the most recent research conducted by renowned scholars in the field. In line with this work, each semester, an artist is invited to present their approach in connection with digital data. Some sessions will be held in English, facilitating the participation of international researchers.
